The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,698 groups with 6,506,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns.

It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free.

An Inconvenient Truth
All ten of the hottest years globally have occurred in the last fifteen years. 2005 was the hottest on record. On May 24, the film An Inconvenient Truth opened in theaters. The Global Citizen Center
The Global Citizen Center is a nonprofit organization that employs public education and demonstration to promote a set of new economic practices that are environmentally sustainable and socially just. In so doing, the Center hopes to accelerate the transition to an alternative economic paradigm that embodies these practices, a paradigm often referred to as the Green Economy.

The Green Belt Movement
Wangari Maathai, founder of the Green Belt Movement, is the winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize. The Green Belt Movement is a grassroots nongovernmenal organization that works to realise its vision and mission through programs in tree planting/biodiversity conservation, civic and environmental education, advocacy & networking, food security, andcapacity building for women and girls.

The EnviroLink Network
EnviroLink is a non-profit organization, a grassroots online community dedicated to providing comprehensive, up-to-date environmental information and news. EnviroLink does not take any positions on any specific environmental issues; it exists solely to act as a clearinghouse on the Internet for the environmental community, which is incredibly diverse in its views.

The Global Greens is the international network of Green parties and political movements.

Greenpeace International
Greenpeace is a non-profit organisation, with a presence in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific. Greenpeace campaigns to stop climate change, protect ancient forests,-save the oceans, stop whaling, say no to genetic engineering, stop the nuclear threat, eliminate toxic chemicals, and encourage sustainable trade.

PETA
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than 800,000 members, is the largest animal rights organization in the world. Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.

The Sustainable Living Roadshow
Begun in Spring 2007, the Sustainable Living Roadshow (SLR) is comprised of experienced educators, activists and entertainers who tour university campuses and community events throughout the United States and internationally in a fleet of non-petroleum based renewable fuel vehicles. Theys set up off-the-grid, zero-waste experiential learning villages, featuring workshops, speakers, sustainability exhibits and entertainment which demonstrate practical solutions to social and environmental issues created by our modern industrial society.

Gaviotas
Gaviotas is a village of about 200 people in Colombia, South America. For three decades, Gaviotans - peasants, scientists, artists, and former street kids - have struggled to build an oasis of imagination and sustainability in the remote, barren savannas of eastern Colombia, an area ravaged by political terror. They have planted millions of trees, thus regenerating an indigenous rainforest. They farm organically and use wind and solar power. Every family enjoys free housing, community meals, and schooling. There are no weapons, no police, no jail. There is no mayor.

Global Day of Action: International Demonstrations on Climate Change

The Global Climate Campaign website has been set up to publicize and promote plans for demonstrations on climate change, to coincide with the annual United Nations Climate Talks which are taking place this year in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 7th to 18th 2009.
